Traffic is King, but this comes FIRST

Visitors to your site are critical - getting them there automatically is even better. Here's how...

Before we begin

Keyword research is really the first step in getting traffic to your website. The reason this is so important is that you are going to be building content and traffic sources for specific keywords. Which means you need to put some thought into the keywords you're targeting.

While doing your keyword research, keep the following in mind:

  • Are the keywords you're interested in attainable? Take a look at the "strength" of others websites (and how many) are already targeting these keywords.
  • Are these "buying" keywords? Certain keywords are good for generating a lot of visitors who don't buy anything. You want to generate visitors ready to buy.
  • Will these keywords bring affiliates? Generating your own customers is great - having other people do it for you is even better. So make sure you are also targeting keywords to attract affiliates.

This is critical to your business, but it takes a lot of time and effort. Hiring someone else to do it costs a lot of money. And that's why most people skip this step! What I recommend is using website traffic software to save the time of doing it yourself and the money of hiring someone else. This way you get this critical step done fast and done well.

Only then can you start getting traffic

Once you've done your properly keyword research, you're now ready to start targeting these keywords to draw in visitors.

Here are a couple of clever ways to do this...

  • Most people overlook the power of Surveys!
  • "Help" Websites
  • Video Websites

Surveys

People love filling in surveys. And smart website owners know this, so they will include your survey on their site if you make a good one. They benefit by getting free content for their site and you get a link to your site under the survey. This allows you to get free website traffic from other people's sites! Most people think surveys are just for collecting data, but in this case you don't even care about the answers. So, get creative and make up a survey that's wacky to get other people interested in putting it on their sites.

"Help" Websites

Sites like Yahoo! Answers allow users to ask and answer each others' questions. But, like the surveys, that's not why you're going to pay attention to these sites. What you want to do is use these sites to generate traffic and leads for your business. Now, you can do this all by hand - visit a classified ads or answers site and one by one copy and paste contact info. The good news is that it's easy to find website traffic software that can do this automatically. These tools put the whole thing on auto-pilot and just deliver the leads to you each day.

Video

No doubt you're aware of YouTube and other video websites. In fact, YouTube has over 2 billion videos watched per day! If used properly, video sites can get you more website traffic than you know what to do with.

And don't worry if you don't have any idea of how to make a video. One super easy thing to do is take an article or website you've written. Then simply record yourself reading the text and you video the screen with a simple screen capture program. You can even get software that will automatically do this for you.

Summary

It's not that hard to get traffic to your websites. Just be a creative and think outside the box a bit. Plus, there's lots of great software out there to help you.

Get started right away:

  • Keyword research first is key
  • Next, set up a survey or two with viral appeal
  • Build your traffic traps
  • And don't forget about video
